Shoulder seperation, ac joint injury

Until I'll be able to type with both hands, this blog will grind to a near stand-still. I'm hoping to be able to type again after a few days, T3's only do so much.

My injury is pretty much healed, or as much as it ever will. I cant remember the grade of the injury, but the doc said there are about four small tendons that hold the clavicle down into your shoulder and that I probably snapped 2 of them. I still have a big bump on my shoulder, but that's normal for a cyclist. I never did get the surgery done, there is an increased chance of arthritis if you do the surgery, plus there is only about a 50% success rate. SO my doctors advised me to just let it heal on its own. I don't really notice the injury in my day to day life, or in cycling, but every once in a while I feel it when I make sudden movements or reactions. It also feels pretty crunchy if I rotate my shoulder. But nothing hurts anymore. That's after about a year and 5 months.
It takes a good 6 months to feel normal again.

thanks for answear!! and some good info. Im getting alot better now after 4months, back in some wight training and can do most of the exercises i used to to, but of course not on the same level yet. Good that it doesnt bother you in biking and day to day life. I hope i can get back to my sport again aswell. Grappling and brasilian jiu jitsu, its a wrestling kind of sport. Can you imagine that it would be any problems doing that?(roling over the shoulder, pressure and direct hits) and can you do exercises as chest press and push ups? that still hurts a bit. but pulling exercises works out good. Thank you so much for answearing, very interesting to hear from you, since all the doctors seems so insecure on the future, they say it can go both ways, and the confusion on doing the surgey or not..etc

I am sorry to hear about your bike incident which has caused your shoulder's bone dislocation, it is best that you have it checked regularly with a doctor to properly address that to avoid any complication.

Go to physio and DO the exercises they tell you to do. That's where you come in as a dad.
Set up a routine with your boy and whip him through it for the next months. With the right exercise you should be able to make the injury a non issue. Without it he'll feel it forever.
